PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

SideGrid is designed to process as little personal information as reasonably possible while providing the service.

Last updated: September 26, 2026

1. Overview

SideGrid is a browser-based tool that lets you display and compare multiple videos side by side.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use SideGrid, why it is processed, and what choices you have.

2. Privacy-first usage analytics

SideGrid uses its own lightweight analytics system to understand how the product is being used and improve the service.

The analytics system records aggregate event counters such as landing page views, app opens, the type of video source added and the number of videos used in a grid.

SideGrid analytics do not store:

video URLs, YouTube video IDs, Twitch channel names, Vimeo video IDs, Google Drive file IDs, local file names, or a persistent analytics visitor identifier.

SideGrid also respects the browser's Do Not Track signal for this analytics system.

3. Local browser storage

SideGrid can store your current workspace settings in your browser using local storage so that your session can be restored when you return.

This may include video links, labels, layout settings, volume settings and other local workspace preferences.

This information remains in your browser unless you explicitly use a cloud feature or clear your SideGrid session or browser storage.

4. Accounts

If you create a SideGrid account, SideGrid may process information required to operate and secure that account, including your email address, a securely hashed password, authentication sessions and security-related session metadata.

Passwords are not stored in plain text.

5. Cloud-saved workspaces

If you choose to use SideGrid cloud save features, workspace information that you explicitly choose to save may be stored on SideGrid's servers.

Local-only workspaces are not automatically converted into cloud-saved workspaces.

6. Embedded video providers

SideGrid can display media from third-party services including YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo and Google Drive.

When you load content from one of these services, your browser communicates directly with that provider. Those providers may receive technical information and may use their own cookies, local storage or similar technologies according to their own privacy policies.

SideGrid does not control how those third-party providers process information.

7. Authentication cookies

When you sign in, SideGrid uses a secure authentication cookie to keep your account session active.

This cookie is used for account authentication and security rather than advertising.

8. Advertising

SideGrid does not currently enable third-party advertising on the service.

If advertising is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated and any consent mechanisms required by applicable law will be implemented before relevant advertising technologies are activated.

9. Service providers

SideGrid relies on infrastructure providers to host the application, databases and related technical services. These providers may process technical information that is necessary to provide and secure the service.

SideGrid does not sell personal information to advertisers.

10. Data retention

Authentication sessions are retained until they expire, are logged out or are removed for security or maintenance purposes.

Account information is retained while the account is active or as necessary to provide the service and meet applicable legal obligations.

Aggregate analytics counters may be retained for product and service trend analysis.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection.

You may contact SideGrid to make a privacy or data request.

12. Security

SideGrid uses technical and organisational measures intended to protect account and service data, including secure password hashing, session controls, HTTPS and security headers.

No online service can guarantee absolute security.
